The Atelier
OKIO Atelier is the most individual expression of OKIO, a dedicated practice for garments conceived in relation to a person, purpose or occassion.
Ready-to-wear begins with the collection. Atelier begins with the individual.
It exists for an exact proportion, a particular occassion, a complete look, or an idea without an existing equivalent.
Denim, reconsidered
Denim is treated not as a category, but as a medium.Its weight, weave, structure and finish are selected for the line it must hold, the movement it must allow and the character it should acquire through wear.
THE COMMISSION
A commission may be a single garment or a complete look. A familiar form brought into precise relation with its wearer, or something entirely new.
The request determines the direction. Silhouette, proportion, pattern, material, hardware, construction, wash and finish are considered as one composition.
FROM IDEA TO FORM
THE DIRECTION
The Atelier presents the proposed design direction, materials, scope, timing and terms.
THE DEVELOPMENT
Pattern work, material selection and fittings refine the garment until its proportion, movement and construction are resolved.
THE REALIZATION
Following approval, the final garment is cut, constructed and finished.
